Healthy Care Agency Food Protection Program

Food Processing
Food Protection Program

This program regulates the manufacture and distribution of foods at the wholesale level. Although the public health concerns are similar to the types of issues generally associated with retail operations, such as restaurants and markets, the laws which apply to these types of wholesale businesses are different. In order to sell, process, repackage, store or distribute food for commercial purposes at the wholesale level, you must have a health permit. It is illegal to process, store, repackage or distribute food for commercial purposes out of a non-permitted facility. The Environmental Health Division Food Processing Program is frequently contacted to discuss the requirements and procedures to market new food products. For more information, please call (714) 433-6090.
